How to set up a free Google Analytics Account

1. Set up Google Tag Manager

 Google Tag Manager is used to set up Tags for Google Analytics to avoid complex code in your website. It's a good practice to make Tag manager and Analytics work together for effective results.

2. Create a Google Analytics account

  • Click on the "Start for free" button
  • Log in to your Google account
  • Click on the "Start measuring" button
  • Name your account
  • Add property name
  • Under the advanced settings option, create Universal Analytics property and add the URL of the site.
  • Add Business information and click the "Next" button, you will receive a measurement ID to connect to your site
  • Under tagging instructions, choose Global site tag
  • Now you will find your Tracking code and Tracking ID

3. Setup Google Analytics Tag with Google Tag Manager

  • Go to Google Tag Manager Dashboard and click New Tag
  • Choose the type of tag as Universal Analytics
  • Set track type as Page View and click New variable and add your Google Analytics Tracking ID there
  • Go to Triggering section and add All Pages 
You have set up a Google Tag to send data to Google Analytics.

 Google Analytics will now track the performance of your website and identify the changes you can bring to the website to increase performance.
